Customers rated Home Extensions: The Complete Handbook 4.5 stars out of 5.0 based on 11 reviews:A very good book on a wide-ranging topic
by A. Taylor - 2010-05-20

We're thinking about having an extension built on our house as we're running out of room, so after reading the reviews on a few books on Amazon I decided to purchase this one. It's a very thorough, well layed out and well written book that sometimes goes into too much detail. This is probably because we're still trying to decide whether we should have an extension built, as I'm sure you'd refer back to this book at each stage of the process. The book is also on it's third revision, so it's obviously been kept up to date with the building processes, but I still got the impression that certain aspects of the book were dated. Perhaps it's because it makes reference to the 1990's several times in its pages. I would also have expected a book in its third revision to have been proof-read a bit better! So to summarize, I would recommend this book to someone who is planning to extend their home, or who has maybe started the process and would appreciate some additional, impartial advice. This type of book is always going to be very general as both our houses and what we want from an extension will always be varied, but it does a very good job of trying to cover all the options.Home Extensions

A good book to have in your builders library, not hard to read and very helpfulExtension building - this is for you!!

I recently started a house extension build. Although I am a reasonably practical guy I was concious of not fully understanding what is a potentially major event in adding another building onto my current house. As such I wanted to understand more about the techinical side of the Build. This book helped greatly. The terminology is easy to understand and the pictures are simply detailed. I think a little more detail on other aspects such as electrics would be a benefit but altogether a comprehensive source of reference.Better than I expected

The book arrived on time and in good condition. I have bought several books off amazon and all have lived beyond expectation.Husband delighted!

I bought my husband this book as we are in the process of having plans drawn up for an extension. Now, instead of employing one contractor to carry out everything, my husband wants to project manage the build instead. He feels he has learned some invaluable information from this book and if it saves us money I'm happy too!
