After about a year . . . Like the size of the glass container. It does fine for smoothies but when you get into making shakes & malts, it goes down from there. It just doesn't blend the thick stuff well. You can't fill the container more than half full for thick shakes; if you like runny than it will do ok but still don't fill very full. The plastic neck on the glass pitcher ended up cracking and the female metal part of the glass pitcher (on bottom) ended up wearing down. We find ourselves shaking and tipping the blender to get the food to engage the blade. It leaves a lot of large chunks when trying to blend or crush ice. Clean up of the base is fine as is the blender. For simple liquids, I think it's a good blender for the price. I'm now looking for a cammerical blender.no stars for this junk

the base on this blender is plastic garbage. my wife has broken the base in a week-exchanged the blender for a new one and broke another base. she called the company for a replacemenbt part and they wanted $5 plus $10 for shippnig! they say they haver never had any problems with this part-yeah right. My mom had one break too!!! They did give my mom and my wife new bases once butthey said never again. Now we are on our fouth blender and the base is going out again, no surprise there. save your money for a real blender.Worst blender ever

This blender is unbelievably bad. It develops an air pocket around the blade within 2-3 seconds of turning it on, so you have to turn it on, turn it off, stir, turn it on, turn it off, stir, etc. Nothing above the 1-cup line gets mixed or blended at all. One bad smoothie and back to Target it goes.Flimsy Base

I was quite pleased that the pitcher is made of thick, sturdy glass. But the base is an entirely different matter. In fact, it feels like this base belong with an entirely different Oster pitcher. While this pitcher feels heavy and solid, in contrast the base feels light, flimsy and plasticky. When the blender is on, the base vibrates and rattles in a loud, harsh way that is beyond what I'd expect for normal operation -- especially considering that the hardest thing I've put in the blender is pieces of frozen bananas for smoothies. It's as if the blender vibrates so wildly because it's so top-heavy -- the base just doesn't have the weight or sturdiness to properly absorb the vibrations from the heavy pitcher. This blender has made a couple of dozen frozen banana smoothies for me without a problem, but it is disappointing that the base -- which looked to me like it would be heavy and sturdy -- is actually mostly plastic and vibrates wildly. I make a smoothie at least once a day, so I wouldn't be surprised if the base cracks or fails before very long. I guess I've learned my lesson; next time I will pay more for all-around solid construction.Impressive Blender (Model #6844)

Wow! It crushes ice in seconds, has lots of features / speeds, was reduced to $29.99, and it's red. What's not to like!
