Contrary to popular rumor, this 1987 collection of comedy skits is not about a group of female employees from Amazon.com on a mission to the lunar surface. It's a series of unrelated spoofs and sketches designed to resemble an aimless night of TV channel-surfing, and the satirical targets include grade-Z science fiction films of the 1950s, sex films of the 1930s, hospital soap operas, and Playboy video centerfolds. There's a charity drive in which legendary bluesman B.B. King pleas for donations to help "Blacks Without Soul," and Ed Begley Jr. thinks he's the son of the Invisible Man, which would be fine if he weren't as visible as everyone else. The various sketches feature an all-star cast including Rosanna Arquette, Griffin Dunne, Carrie Fisher, Michelle Pfeiffer, the late Phil Hartman in an early role, and many others. It's strictly hit-or-miss, and many of the sketches fall flat, especially since the subjects being spoofed (the title sketch is a send-up of the actual 1954 movie Cat Women on the Moon) are funny enough without being satirized. Even though Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide describes most of the sketches as "astonishingly unfunny," this can be a very amusing movie if you're in the mood for a no-brainer with a lot of familiar Hollywood faces. Now a modest little cult film, it's the kind of disposable entertainment that maintains its appeal almost in spite of itself. --Jeff Shannon

    • Wonderful follow-up to The Kentucky Fried Movie!

by John Lindsey (Socorro, New Mexico USA.) - 2010-07-19  Rated 5 stars
A series of sketches done by directors John Landis, Robert Weiss, Peter Horton, Carl Gottlieb and Joe Dante. This one satirizes televison culture from commercials, a man trapped in his own TV, video pirates, condom buying, porn and all the way to cheesy 50's Sci-fi movies. Starring various actors and actresses like Michelle Pfeifer, Arsenio Hall, Phil Hartman, Monique Gabrielle, Sybil Dannig, Steve Forrest, Robert Colbert, Joey Travolta, David Alan Grier, Rip Taylor, B.B. King, Steve Guttenberg, Rosanna Arquette, Henry Silva, Jackie Vernon, Steve Allen, Andrew Dice Clay and Ed Begley Jr. This is a pure madcap sketch comedy that plays as a follow-up to the brilliant "Kentucky Fried Movie" as this one has sex and wild jokes with some funny while some are plain ok. I gotta give credit to Dante, Weiss, Landis and others making this long awaited follow-up, don't miss out on this unique parody movie that blows away the cruddy Friedberg and Seltzer ones you see today. This DVD has a great transfer of picture and sound quality with few extras like deleted scenes, trailer, outtakes and recommendations. If you like Kentucky Fried Movie and UHF then this movie is for you.

If you liked Airplane, and Kentucky Fried Movie, you'll love this. It's f'n rad! It's non-stop gags for an hour and a half. Hard to describe without ruining the jokes, but rest assured THIS IS FUNNY! It's got some hot chicks in it too!

    • Still a cult classic

A bit aged, but still a cult classic. A little better than Kentucky Fried Movie.

    • Mindless Entertainment but a Great Movie

by William Bailey (Columbus Ohio) - 2009-11-24  Rated 5 stars
If you are expecting some form of substance or an actual storyline then this movie isn't for you. If, on the other hand, you just want to turn your brain off for a while and enjoy extremely funny, yet intruiging, skits then this is the movie for you. No lessons to be learned, no happily ever after crap, just some time to sit back and laugh your butt off. Every now and then everyone needs some truly mindless entertainment and this is a movie that you must keep in your collection for that very reason.

    • DVD is exact copy of VHS

by Judith Taylor - 2009-08-30  Rated 5 stars
This is still funny everytime I watch it. The choppy film section is suppose to be there. I thought it was my vcr slipping but that was part of the skit showing the problems that happened in the old reel movies. I ordered this for my brother-in-law who is warped. Can't wait until we watch it together.
